Waitaha for everybody
An accessible and inclusive Canterbury for all
We believe in a Christchurch and Canterbury where all people with disabilities enjoy full lives without barriers. Together with the local disability community, we develop access and wellbeing solutions that benefit all.
Disability Leadership Canterbury is leading the way towards a universally accessible, diverse and inclusive Ōtautahi and Waitaha that every person can enjoy.
Whanaungatanga
We hold regular, independent network meetings to foster connections among disabled people, whānau, organisations and decision-makers. We raise issues and propose solutions that remove barriers in Canterbury.
Education
We educate our city’s leaders on accessible and inclusive processes, using our network’s collective experience and expertise. We support decision-makers to identify where changes need to be made to benefit all.
Accessibility and inclusion promotion
We collaborate with our local disability community to facilitate positive initiatives and responses to local accessibility and inclusion issues.
Reporting
We collate and structure a body of knowledge that offers more than a decade of insights from a large network of disabled people and organisations in Canterbury.
